Today on June 26th 1960, Somaliland become An Independent African Nation for the first time in the History of Africa.

British Somaliland Protectorate was under the British Monarchy for nearly 80 years. Somaliland a small nation in the Horn of Africa was located in a strategic location and sought the protection of United Kingdom of Britain.

Somaliland is a conservative pastoral nation and enjoyed similar values to those of Great Britain which helped Somaliland British Protectorate flourish as Somalilanders are known as natural entrepreneurs or skilled traders during the British Protectorate time.

Somalilanders love education and Educational Institutions like Amoud and Secondary Sheikh School were established to help Somaliland's young generation get access to British education. Secondary Sheikh School is nicknamed as Eton College of Somaliland according to the Guardian.

On this day Somaliland a new African nation enjoyed their Independence recognised by more than 35 countries.
